One of the greatest servants of humanity, Abdul Sattar Edhi has passed away.

Pakistan's most respected philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi was in critical condition and has been put on the ventilator at a Karachi hospital after he suffered from severe difficulty in breathing, his family announced on Friday 8th July 2016.
According to details, Abdul Sattar Edhi was admitted at SIUT and has been shifted to ventilator.
His son Faisal Edhi and wife Bilqees Edhi held a press conference on Friday and told that kidney transplant wasn’t possible due to the age factor.
“Edhi sahib is 92 years of age now and the doctors have told us that kidney transplant would not be feasible at this age. We request the nation to pray for him”, said Faisal.
Abdull sattar edhi is a world-renowned social worker who devoted his entire life to the service of mankind. His ambulances are here and there, and his clinics and homes are everywhere to help millions of people. Edhi was born in 1928 at Bantwa, Gujrat in pre-partition India. His story is truly inspiring. At the age of eleven his mother paralyzed. He spent his days and nights to nurse and provide full-fledged services to his mother — cleaning, bathing, changing clothes and feeding and hence he was too busy to complete his education in the school. But the very first experience of hardship and self-sacrificing service turned out to be his tutor to make him an “Angel Hero”.
He started his career as a street hawker, selling pencils and matchboxes in Karachi.
Edhi established his first welfare centre and then the Edhi Trust with a mere Rs. 5000. What started as a one-man show operating from a single room in Karachi is now the Edhi Foundation, the largest welfare organisation in Pakistan. The foundation has over 300 centres across the country, in big cities, small towns and remote rural areas, providing medical aid, family planning and emergency assistance.They own air ambulances, providing quick access to far-flung areas.
In Karachi alone, the Edhi Foundation runs 8 hospitals providing free medical care, eye hospitals, diabetic centres, surgical units, a 4- bed cancer hospital and mobile dispensaries. In addition to these the Foundation also manages two blood banks in Karachi.
